Note: Concomitant calcium and phosphorus determinations will be performed. Primary test for hyperparathyroidism, secondary hyperparathyroidism, or hypoparathyroidism.

Specimen Requirements
Draw blood in a plain, red-top tube(s) or a serum gel tube(s). Spin down and send 2 mL (pediatric: 1 mL) of serum.
Note: For screening purposes, it is recommended that specimen be drawn from a fasting patient.

0-6 days: 7.2-12.0 mg/dL
7 days-2 years: 9.0-11.0 mg/dL
>2 years: 8.8-10.2 mg/dL

PHOSPHORUS INORGANIC (PO4)
0-6 days: 4.0-9.0 mg/dL
7 days-2 years: 4.0-8.0 mg/dL
