Specimen Requirements

Draw blood in a plain, red-top tube(s) or a serum gel tube(s). Spin down and send 1 mL of serum. (Plasma is not acceptable.)

Reference Values

Results are reported as positive, negative, or weak positive.

Negative: no human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) detected

Weak positive: ≤10 mIU/mL hCG (suggest repeat in 48 hours)

Positive: >10 mIU/mL hCG
