Specimen Requirements
Draw blood in a lavender-top (EDTA) tube(s), and send 5 mL of EDTA whole blood. Forward unprocessed whole blood promptly.
Do not refrigerate.
Reference Values
Negative. If positive, organism identified and quantified.
Critical value: Presence of malarial parasites
