Methodology

Note:  If #ABS “Antibody Screen” is positive, #ABID “Antibody Identification” will be performed at an additional charge.

Specimen Requirements

Blood and serum and clot are required for this test.

 

Blood
Draw blood in a lavender-top (EDTA) tube(s), and send 5 mL of EDTA whole blood.
Note:  Include report of diagnosis and history of transfusions, pregnancy, and drug therapy.

 

Serum and Clot
Draw blood in a plain, red-top tube(s). (Serum gel tube is not acceptable.) Separate serum from clot, and send 10 mL of serum and clot in separate vials.
Note:  Include report of diagnosis and history of transfusions, pregnancy, and drug therapy.

Reference Values

Negative
If positive, antibody identification will be performed.
